Happy National Penguin Awareness Day !!!

Penguins are my favorite animal. When I was in the 3rd grade, I came down with a bad case of scarlet fever. I missed almost the entire year of school. My hair was shaved off, my room was stripped. I couldn't have friends over or see anyone. I don't remember most of that time, I was way to sick but the one thing I do remember is that Penguins would come in and take care of me. LOL, I must have had a high fever at the time. Ever since then, I have adored, loved and been in awe of penguins. So I love this day. Here is a great web site to learn a little more about these wonderful creatures.  PENGUINS

This last picture is real.  It's the only photo of an all black Penguin.

I made some progress on my projects this week

I got a chance to sit and stitch on Thursday and then a couple of hours today. Yesterday I drove down to Phoenix to see Harry. He was very tired and slept the whole time I was there. I spent a couple of hours visiting with this really sweet lady that loves to cross stitch also. She just finished this really cute pattern. She has no one that comes to visit her so I promised her I would take her project and frame it for her. Is this cute or what?

I can't wait to get it back to her and see if she is happy with the frame I am going to pick out. I also got her a new kit so she will have something to do. I promised her that I would come and stitch with her twice a month. It breaks my heart that she has no one to come and visit with her.

I worked on 3 different projects this week.

The Horse Silhouette.

Easter Blessings

Love Birds

Today Frasier was keeping an eye on me making sure I was working hard. LOL

I hope everyone had a great day of stitching.

My First Finish -- Silent Night

Woo Hoo, I got my 1st finish for the year. It was a quick and easy pattern but still it's a finish.

I don't really know how to finish it, I was thinking maybe some white felt. I really don't know how to finish a lot of these little projects but I will figure it out. If anyone has any suggestions please post.

CJC Day 15 Townsend's Warbler

Oh Man, How sad, this is the last day for new starts on the Crazy January Challenge.

My last project for this challenge is from patternsonline.com It was a free pattern that I got years ago. This is the one for some reason that I want to finish most. But it gave me a ton of problems tonight.

CJC Day 13 and 14

I can't believe I forgot to post yesterday. Maybe cuz I don't want the first 15 days to be up.

I didn't get as much done as I wanted to.

Day 13 is a free pattern from www.acaciacrafts.com It's a horse silhouette which I want to make for our landlord.

Day 14 is a Thanksgiving Sampler

I am excited about being able to complete these projects. I hope next week I can even get one done. I joined the Flipping Crazy Challenge and 14 out of the 15 projects I chose to do for that challenge are not even started yet. LOL. They keep staring at me to start them. I promised myself, that I won't start any new projects till I get at least 5 done. But now I am addicted to starting projects. I have my next 15 already in mind. Can you believe that. Holy Cow. Oh and you should see my wish list.

With everything I have started and ready to do, my husband is ready to call that new show called "My Strange Addiction". LOL

CJC Day 12 -- Red Birds for Peace

I got a little bit of stitching in today. Being Wednesday, the new sales were out at the grocery store. So I ran and got some really good deals ( I think ). I spent 61.00 but saved 47.00 so to me that's not to bad.

I am thinking instead of stitching the birds that I might put bird buttons on. What do you all think?

I can't believe we are already on Day 12. It's sad to know there are only 2 days left. However I still have tons of stitching to do and it's going to be fun to see how everyone does on completing their projects.

CJC Day 11 -- Angel's Among US

I found this patten on PatternsOnline.com. I really enjoy being able to download the patterns onto my computer. It makes them so easy to read that way. I didn't get a lot done. I was on the phone most of the day looking for nursing homes that might be able to take care of Harry. It would great to have him closer to us.

CJC Day 10 --- Stars Over Pine

I was so lucky today and got to sit and stitch the afternoon away. I watched the last 2 shows of The Tudors. What a great series it was and I am sad to see it end.

A Friend Has Gone to A Better Place

I didn't get to know Rene very well. I always read her posts and sometimes made a tiny comment. But reading how her death has affected everyone in the group so much tells me that I truly missed out on knowing someone very special. I have lost many people in my life and it's never once been easy, even if they were suffering with an illness. I know everyone is happy knowing she is not longer sick and in pain, but that still doesn't make it any easier. My heart goes out to her family and friends.

CJC Day 9 -- Halloween Moon

I got a little bit done today. Not much but its a start. It's called Halloween Moon and I love the colors. I have to find a different color for the pumpkin since the color it calls for is to close to the fabric color.

I can't believe we are on day 9 already. I am not used to having a bunch of patterns to do. I pretty much do mine from start to finish, but this has really been cool.

CJC Day 8 --- A Star On Top

Today was a pretty quiet day, I got the bathrooms scrubbed and mopped the floors. 3 loads of laundry and I was ready to sit down and stitch. Oh I also put a roast in the crock pot and made the entire house smell yummy.

I love this little pattern. I think it will make a good ornament for us when we get a tree one of these years. Or it will make a great gift as most of my projects are given away.

This is a freebie from http://www.blueribbondesigns.com/

I also really wanted to thank everyone who left comments on my Day 7 pattern, I ordered some really cool variegated thread but I am still thinking about if I want to stitch in 3 colors or go multi.

CJC Day 7 -- Hearts and Birds -- I need some opinions on this one

I drove down to Phoenix to see my foster sisters kids, they leave for CA tomorrow and I won't get to see them again till summer. I totally miss them already. We met my Niece Tristan and the baby Mattie at the indoor swap meet and we had a great time just walking and looking around.

I started a new pattern called Hearts and Birds from the cross stitchers club and
I am wondering if I sure use the multi colored thread. So what do you all think? I have a feeling it might make it look prettier. So let me know since I can pull out the few stitches and start it over.

I really love to see any comments and suggestions

CJC Day 6 -- Winter Sampler

Today was a wonderful quiet day. Hubby was in his office working hard and the cats took extra long naps. Which means I was able to get a lot of stitching in. This Winter Sampler was a freebie from cross stitchers club. I have been wanting to do this one for quiet awhile now. It's a pretty detailed pattern for me, but I think if I take it slow, I hope I will do okay.

CJC Day 5 -- NYC

Well, I didn't get a lot done but I hope this will count as a start. I found this pattern for free off of www.acaciacrafts.com. I used to work in NY at the Trade Center in Tower 3, which was severely damaged on 9/11. My company moved me to NC to work there until 2004 when my job was sent to India. Not a place I would love to live so I retired. I miss looking at the skyline in NY at night. This pattern reminds me a little of it.

TUSAL

It took me 4 stores to find the right jar. I found this one at Ross and I love the blue lid.

CJC Day 3 -- Easter Blessings

I got about 2 hours of stitching done today while I was watching the last season of The Tudors.

I love this pattern and can't wait to get it done.

Day 2 of Jan Challenge -- Silent Night

I was up all night last night. So I got a lot of stitching done. I think the stress of Harry being so ill has gotten to me and I just couldn't shut my mind off thinking about him and how ill he is. Even thou there has been some improvement, I can't stop thinking about if he will ever be able to come and live with us or have to go to a nursing home and if he does, will his family who doesn't care about him let him come up to one by me. So, I just kept stitching till the dawn.

Cuddle Up Snowmen

I got several hours of stitching in today, This project has 3 snowman and I think it's really cute. I have always had a love of snowman and gingerbread men.

I hope to get a little bit more done tonight before I go to bed.

Can I Stitch Now?

Well first of all Happy New Year to everyone. Yesterday, Roger and I drove down to Phoenix to see my foster Sister's kids that are down from CA. Jimmy 16 and Jenn 14, I have to say are the best teenagers I have ever known. Roger and I took them out to lunch with my Niece Tristan and the baby Mattie. We ate at Lenny Burgers and it was so yummy. We went and walked the mall and bought a few things for Harry (my Foster Dad) and then had a visit with him at the hospital. The last few times I have been to see him, he has only been able to visit for 5 mins. before it tuckers him out to much. Well yesterday he was so thrilled to see the kids that he was able to visit for 45 mins. I can't tell you how excited I am. I don't know how much better Harry will get, but I hope he will be able to sit up soon and be able to feed himself. One step at a time.

After the visit with Harry we took off to go see "Tron", which was pretty good, I give it a solid C, the story line was lacking but I really enjoyed the music and special effects. I hated to drop the kids off, we really had way to much fun.

We made it home by 9:30 and watched some United States of Tara and went to bed right after midnight.

This morning, I got up early and did my usual Saturday chores, put some short beef ribs in the crock pot. Since it's the 1st of the year, we changed the batteries in the smoke detectors, also we took down all the Christmas stuff. Lunch is almost ready and after I get that cleaned up I am going to demand time to sit down and stitch. I can't wait to get this 1st project started. I hope everyone is finding time to stitch today.

Happy Stitching

Linda
